I started this exciting internship with Ambalu Jewelers in September, 2012. Ambalu Jewelers is the premium retailer and manufacturer of fine jewelry in Long Island. It is a family run business and the people who work there are so friendly and caring. I enjoyed my time there very much.
My main responsibility for this internship was to help them create and design weekly mass emails. All of the company’s email communications to customers were sent out using Constant Contact, a website for sending mass emails. Please stay tuned for some of the emails that I sent out during my internship.
My current focus was on the photo shoot production for Ambalu Jeweler’s new website. Due to budget constrains, the Ambalu family had decided to carry out the photo shooting of their products in-house. Since I was the most tech savvy person, so I took the responsibility of mastering photo shooting using a professional DSLR camera and a jewelry light-box. Because no one had the knowledge and skills needed, so I had to learn it all by myself by searching it online. I was glad that I was given this opportunity to learn something new. If not for this, I would never knew so much about cameras, light-box and jewelry photography. I learnt how to change the f-focus, shutter speed and brightness and contrast on a DSLR camera, what kind of light to use when shooting different jewelries, whether it is LED lights, florescent, or yellow lights, how to place the jewelry to get the best effect, and how to edit the picture using Photoshop so that it is most suited for website use.
From time to time, I would also help to manage their customer data base, conduct market research, and brainstorm for promotion ideas. Ambalu Jewelers also hosted a few events during my internship, where I also assisted to organize.
